In May of 2011 I started L&L as a way to document things I loved. Since then it has turned into my own little personal project concerning my life, passions, and inspirations.
Just a few little bits about Kerstin
I went to high school in Niceville, Florida following being a world-traveling military child for 13 years. I currently live in Brooklyn New York with my partner Philip and our four cats. I spent four years at the University of Mississippi (go Rebels!) studying Psychology, English, and Film. I am getting my graduate degree in Film in Brooklyn NY. Fall is my favorite time of year because I love the crisp coolness of the air and all the changing leaves.
My usual habitat is curled up on the couch with a good book, scouring lifestyle websites, and playing with my darling kitties. I love candles, adding special finishing touches to rooms, and cooking. Be prepared to find some amazing recipes, and some truthful baking failures here.
Currently I am growing out a Pixie from Winter 2014, and despite some awkward moments, I am enjoying relearning my hair. I can’t leave the house without the accessory that is held closest to my heart: my great-grandmother’s wedding ring.
food: shredded chicken tacos and margherita pizza
cocktail: chardonnay or malbec
coffee: with 2 sugars + milk
book: The Princess and the Goblin by George Macdonald
TV shows: Seinfeld + How I Met Your Mother + Friends
movie: Finding Neverland
accessory: my leather and steel horse stirrup bracelet
What kind of camera do you use? Nikon D300, or my I-Phone 5.
Who takes the pictures of you? All pictures are taken by myself, friends, or family unless otherwise noted.
May I use your photographs on my site? Of course! Please just make sure to link back to my blog as my images are all copyrighted.
On what platform do you host your blog? WordPress.
What’s your policy on working with brands? I’m extremely selective about the brands I work with and only partner with companies that are a natural fit for Lovely and Ludicrous. The same goes for accepting products (I decline about 95% of the offers that come my way), as I only showcase things on my site that I truly love and would normally buy on my own. In the case that something has been given to me, I always include that it’s courtesy of that brand (c/o). Unless clearly marked as a “Sponsored” post, I am not compensated by any of the brands featured on the site. Additionally, you can read my site’s “Privacy and Disclosure Policy” here.
Why was my comment removed/not published? I appreciate constructively critical feedback, but my goal is to keep the discussion positive and if the tone of your comment is rude, angry, or in poor taste, it won’t be published.
What do you do for a living? I am a full-time graduate student at Brooklyn College. I am a part-time Arbonne Independent Consultant, a part-time sales associate, I produce films, I sell my artwork, and I run this blog. Whew… Millennial living!
Where do you shop? I am a personal fan of reusing and recycling clothes so I mostly go to local thrift and vintage stores, but I do have a personal soft spot for Zara, Urban Outfitters, FreePeople and Modcloth.
What are you doing after you graduate with your M.F.A.? Full time job in TV or Film. I am in the best place ever to do this, NYC!
I see all these sorority pictures on your page. What did you pledge? I am a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity. We are best known for our emphasis on Scholarship and being the first greek-lettered fraternity known among women. Since graduating I am an active alumna volunteer. I am serving as the Upsilon Epsilon’s (Columbia University) Facility Management Advisor and as a member of the Fraternity’s National Young Alumnae Board. To find more information about Theta visit the official website.
What’s with Arbonne? I am a proud owner of my own small business. I am an independent consultant for Arbonne International. Arbonne is a pure, safe, and beneficial health and wellness company aimed at eliminating harmful toxins that enter the body daily. You can visit my personal page here.
